New Directions is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to work, under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Accounting and from time to time will Assist the Director of Finance and Budgeting. The Senior Accountant is responsible for various aspects of the agency’s finance and bookkeeping practices and procedures. Additionally, this position provides support to the entire Finance Department.

Schedule: FT; Mon – Fri, 8:00am – 4:30pm (flexibility with start times)
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually

Required:
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required. A professional designation is not required but a CPA, CIA or CMA is preferred
2+ years of experience in financial accounting and reporting strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting and financial controls.

Internal Audit Senior

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functions as lead on internal audit projects involving evaluation of risks, internal controls, policies and procedures, compliance, and operations
Conducts complex audits of services, projects and programs and recommends improvements
Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of the Office of Internal Audit Strategic Plan

Examples of Duties

Examines records including financial, operational, internal controls, electronic data processing, fraud and special audit data for compliance to policies, procedures, regulations, laws and standards
Compiles and analyzes data on key business risks, evaluates controls, documents deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, lack of compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, laws and standards and prepares reports on audit findings
Provides technical assistance and instruction regarding audit projects, activities, procedures and related matters. Assists level I and II auditors assigned to engagements providing guidance and overall review of deliverables
Adheres to professional internal auditing standards and techniques to obtain, analyze and appraise information
Provides objective opinions regarding performance of business activity and effectiveness of key risk management activities
Reviews policies, procedures, internal controls and accounting practices, and recommends changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency in operations.
Prepares or leads the preparation of reports, action plans and supporting documentation of audit conclusions in accordance with professional auditing standards
Represents the department to other government agencies and the public to answer questions and provide information concerning auditing operations
Prepares correspondence and completes special projects.
Work as assigned on the Office of Internal Audit Strategic Plan.
Performs other related duties as assigned

WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of at least three (3) years of internal or financial audit experience is required.
Public accounting firm experience and/or Office of Internal Audit experience is desirable but not required

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be certified as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)/Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)/Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or must have completed at least 1 section of the applicable exam and must obtain certification within 1 year of employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Sufficient vision is needed to obtain information from written documents and video display units
