COVID-19 Tax & Legal Issues & Answers (KYCPAFREE)

Back to Catalog

Few if any of us have been through the economic and personal challenges of the last ten days. The Coronavirus Pandemic has knocked us all for a loop. We were in the midst of tax season when a combination of 9/11, the Great Depression, and the Spanish Flu of 1918, all rolled into one, hit our country. We, our clients, and our fellow citizens look for answers as the local, state, and federal governments try to respond to the numerous challenges the Coronavirus Pandemic presents for all of us. The principal challenges at this time are medical, of course; but issues involving medical leave for employees and tax return compliance are especially important for tax practitioners. We at Surgent realize this is a tough time for all tax practitioners and for their clients. It is for this reason that we are offering a FREE one-hour CPE program dealing with tax and legal issues associated with the Coronavirus Pandemic we are currently experiencing. Mike Tucker of Surgent and Edward Renn of Withers Bergman will cover the major topics below.

  • Postponement of 2019 tax filing due date and payment date to July 15, 2020
  • 2020 estimated tax payments
  • Paid sick leave and paid family leave: which employees are eligible, and which employers are required to pay?
  • The employer credit for sick leave and family leave credit
  • Waivers by companies with under 50 workers
  • Credits for self-employed individuals
  • IRS Notice 2020-15 and payment for COVID-19 diagnostic testing
