Today’s rapidly evolving business environment demands new hires be fluent in data analytics and technology, requiring these skills be interwoven into the accounting curriculum. In this session, we will be introducing data analytics projects that have been created for introductory financial and managerial accounting classes. These projects can be completed in Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau – it is up to you whether you want to assign the project using Excel, Power BI, or Tableau – or all three. The resources included with these free projects are step-by-step tutorial videos, assessment questions, student guides, teaching notes, and more. These class-tested projects are plug and play – they are ready to be used in your introductory accounting classes.
In Part I, we will talk about how to teach data analytics concepts, projects we have created, and show you the resources we have available. In Part II, participants can either watch us or get hands-on experience, working along with us as we demonstrate one of the Excel projects. We will also show excerpts from the Power BI and Tableau projects in this session.
