IMA Cybersecurity & Data Practices Certificate

Overview

Cybersecurity, data management, and effective risk assessment have become critical skills for accounting and finance professionals. This certificate program serves to educate these professionals on their evolving role in managing the risks and regulatory compliance, enabling them to become effective business partners in an evolving technological environment. The certificate program is presented through four courses, each offering NASBA CPE upon successful completion of the course. 

Course 1: Understanding Your Role in Cybersecurity (1.0 NASBA CPE) clarifies the management accountant's role and familiarizes users with threats and defensive measures.

Course 2: Risk & Mitigation (1.4 NASBA CPE) reviews risk assessment and mitigation strategies essential to the development of a robust and secure system.

Course 3: Legal Compliance Considerations (1.6 NASBA CPE) discusses the types of legal considerations needed to maximize regulatory compliance regarding cybersecurity and data protections.

Course 4: Understanding the System (0.5 NASBA CPE) provides insight into effective system development techniques used to further protect the organization. After successfully completing all four courses, participants will gain access to a comprehensive final exam. Successful completion of this exam (with a score of 70% or higher) will entitle users to a professional certificate and digital badge. Objectives

  4. Recognize best practices for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risk including oversight considerations for maintaining cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.  
  5. Distinguish the various global legal requirements essential to regulatory compliance consideration.  
  6. Examine the cybersecurity triad, ten steps to cybersecurity, and how flowcharts can help identify weaknesses when building robust controls.
