FAQ and CPE Requirements

Course hours

Regular in-person and live simulcast 8-hour seminars use local time and begin at 8 a.m. and end by 4 p.m. with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Morning or afternoon 4-credit hour seminars begin at 8 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., respectively. Please see your confirmation or online listing for the correct start times for Professional Issues Updates, conferences and other events.

Photo policy

KyCPA or its contractors may be photographing or videotaping KyCPA events. Attendees agree to allow their image to be used in all forms and media for advertising, trade, social media and any other lawful purposes. Attendance at KyCPA events waives the KyCPA from liability resulting from these uses.

CPE certificates

CPE certificates are emailed after attendance is reconciled. For larger conferences and for live simulcast events, this can take up to 2 weeks.

CPE transcript

KyCPA members can access their CPE transcript by accessing the "My CPE" section. All courses that are taken though KyCPA are automatically uploaded; members can manually add courses and certificates from other providers to their transcripts.

Cancellations, transfers, and substitutions

Cancellations and transfers can be made up to 5 p.m. on the business day before a course if the registrant has not yet downloaded the materials. Cancellations 1-7 days in advance require a $35 cancellation fee. Cancellations more than 7 days out have no fee.

Substitutions of registrants can be made up to 5 p.m. on the business day before a course with no administrative fee. If the previous registrant had discounts (KyCPA member, AICPA member, Get Smarter) that won’t apply to the substitute, additional charges will be billed.

If KyCPA cancels a course, due to low registration numbers or any other reason, no fees are charged.

Inclement weather

If our instructor can get to the course location, the seminar will be held. If not, we will email and/or call registrants as soon as we know the course will be canceled. Please keep your contact information updated with KyCPA. If it will be unsafe for you to travel due to bad weather, please inform us as soon as possible. We may be able to offer a live simulcast of the course or we can cancel your registration.

Seminar and conference manuals

Electronic materials for KyCPA seminars and conferences (including live stream events) are usually available 3 days in advance of the program. These are accessed by logging in with your username and password under the “My CPE” section. With rare exceptions, these can be printed and they can always be saved for later review. Materials are copyrighted and available to registered participants only.

If you prefer to pay KyCPA to print the materials for you, this option may be available with registrations at least 7 days in advance. (Not available for all programs.) Your manual will be at the registration desk when you check in at your event.

Discounts

KyCPA Member Discounts Members save an average of $100 per 8-hour day. Member rates are also extended to members of other state societies and to non-CPA staff working with members.

Early Bird Discounts ($50 on 8- or 16-hour programs, $25 on 4-hour programs) are available for registrations more than 14 days in advance on most in-person programs. Register as early as possible to help ensure the courses you want to attend will run—we must decide whether to hold a class more than 2 weeks in advance. We often get calls close to the course date from people who wanted to attend a course that was canceled due to low registrations.

Get Smarter Discounts ($25 per 8- or 16-hour course) are available for KyCPA members when they register for 3 or more 8- or 16-hour seminars or conferences in one transaction by Sept. 30. Plan your CPE for the year – the more you take, the more you save.

Group Discounts ($25 each registration on 8- or 16-hour seminars or conferences, call for group discount information on webcasts). Register 4 or more people from the same organization for the same program and save.

AICPA Discounts ($30 per 8-hour day) If you are a member of the AICPA, you will save $30 on each 8-hour day for their full-day courses. Eligible seminars are designated by (A) following the title in our print and online catalogs.

Discounts are applied automatically with online registrations.

Meals

At conferences, continental breakfast, lunch, and drinks are provided. At full-day seminars held at the Gratzer Education Center, drinks and lunch are provided. If you have any special dietary need, please contact KyCPA at cpe@kycpa.org or 502.266.5272. No lunch is provided at 4-hour programs or at 8-hour seminars held outside Louisville.
