On October 29, KyCPA held its Fall Women’s Networking Event at the Gratzer Education Center. It was huge success with more than 50 attendees representing a variety of industries and CPA firms. Alice Cowley with Crowe LLP, enjoyed listening to a presentation by guest speaker, Nikki (Jackson) Lanier, who is Senior Vice President and Regional Executive of the Louisville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. “Nikki is a phenomenal leader, and gave an inspiring and down to earth presentation,” said Cowley.  “I think that we all felt compelled by her message to remember that while so much progress has transpired over the years, we still have the responsibility to support and sponsor one another, while recognizing that each of us is driven by our own story and voice.”

Guests were treated by Old 502 Winery to free wine tasting and seasonal bourbon cocktails. There was also the opportunity to do some early holiday shopping at exhibitor booths like Doterra, Keep Collective and Senegence International.

The Women’s Networking Events have a “giving back to the community” aspect with a focus on organizations serving women or girls.  For this event, Kentuckiana Girl Scouts was the featured organization.  One lucky lady even went home with a box of Girl Scout cookies: an exclusive treat, considering the Kentuckiana Girl Scouts’ next cookie season will not be until January 2020.

We owe a huge thank you to our exhibitors and to our sponsor, AssuredPartners, and to the KyCPA Women’s Initiative Task Force for making this event possible.

Due to the popularity of this event, we are excited to announce that the next Women’s Networking Event will be held in Lexington on Thursday, June 4 at the Central Bank Training Center from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our guest speaker is yet to be determined but will be announced closer to the date.

We invite you to join us for another opportunity to network with both familiar and new faces in an environment described by one attendee as a gathering of colleagues and friends, rather than a formal networking event.
